Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Overview
SmartShot ("the App") is developed and operated by an independent developer. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Data Collection
SmartShot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Specifically, the App does not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Browsing history or web content
- Screenshots or captured images
Local Processing
All operations in SmartShot are performed entirely on your device:
- Web browsing is handled by the system WebKit engine. Web pages are loaded directly from their servers to your device.
- Screenshots and captures are generated locally on your device.
- Text extraction is processed on-device using JavaScript injection into the local WebView.
- Image splitting and PDF generation are performed locally using iOS system frameworks.
- Screenshot history is stored only in the app's local sandbox on your device.
No data is sent to any external server, cloud service, or third-party analytics platform.
Photo Library Access
The App requests permission to access your Photo Library solely for the purpose of saving screenshots and split images that you explicitly choose to save. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time through iOS Settings.
Third-Party Services
SmartShot does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools. The App does not share any data with third parties.
Data Storage
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Screenshot history: Thumbnails and metadata of captured screenshots, stored in the app's Documents directory.
- User preferences: Settings such as image quality and wait time, stored using iOS UserDefaults.
All locally stored data is removed when you delete the App.
Share Extension
The SmartShot Share Extension allows you to send URLs from other apps (such as Safari) to SmartShot. The shared URL is passed to the main app through a local App Group container on your device. No URLs are transmitted to any external server.
Children's Privacy
SmartShot does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App does not require any personal information to function.
